Mulberry Alu Expansion Joints

The Tesco floor at Weston Favell is situated on the first floor of a shopping centre over a car park and for years suffered from movement within the shop floor causing tiles to crack. The existing expansion joints had become old and were failing, the existing rubber insert had perished.

Challenge

The works had to be carried out overnight with a very small timeframe but also had to keep the shop floor open as much as possible to allow overnight restocking.

Solution

We had to split the works into two to allow us to break out the tiles and expansion joint and reinstate a new joint, we then had to temporarily make good the area to allow the public to have full access to the store. The second night the tiles would be reinstated and polished. We used our Mulberry Alu Joint that has no rubber which means it is more robust and easier to keep clean.
